Indian cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Sunday led his IPL club, Chennai Super Kings to a convincing 8-wicket victory over local side, Eastern Cape Warriors in the grand final of the Champions League Twenty 20 tournament at the New Wanderers Stadium here in South Africa. Winning the toss and batting first, the Warriors were restricted by spin bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin and Muttiah Muralitharan to 128/7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Nothing much was left for the Chennai batsmen after that.

Powered by a 103-run first wicket partnership between Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay, CSK steadily finished off the task, with an over to spare. Skipper Dhoni scored the winning runs, hitting a mid-on boundary off an over pitched ball by Warriors bowler, Juan Theron. Today’s win completed Chennai Super Kings’ season double, with both the IPL and CL T20 title in its coffers.

A footbridge being built near the main stadium for the Commonwealth Games collapsed Tuesday, injuring 23 construction workers and putting the event in further jeopardy less than two weeks before the opening ceremony.

The accident was the latest setback to New Delhi's troubled preparations for the games, which bring together more than 7,000 athletes and officials from the 71 countries and territories in the commonwealth every four years.

Of the 23 workers who were hurt, five were seriously injured and taken to hospitals after the collapse of the footbridge, said police officer H.G.S. Dhaliwal.

The bridge connects the JawaHarlal Nehru Stadium - the site of the opening and closing ceremonies and the track and field competition for the Oct. 3-14 games - with a parking lot.

Earlier in the day, Commonwealth Games Federation president Michael Fennell contacted the Indian government and urged them to finish work on the athletes' village, which many have called "unlivable."

The much-awaited judgment on Friday to decide the title suit on ownership of the land on which the Babri Mosque stood in Ayodhya until its demolition on December 6, 1992 involves 28 issues framed by the special Lucknow

bench of the Allahabad high court.

The court may not rule on each of these issues, but it seems to have left no avenue unexplored, even directing excavation of the site to unearth evidence.

There are actually five title suits before the court that it has to decide on even though its ruling will also dispose of dozens of other petitions for access, right to worship or pray, write petitions and the like.

It is to be seen whether the court can settle issues that are historical or mythological, as back in 1994, the Supreme Court had refused to go into these very aspects while returning a Presidential reference on the matter.

The first suit goes back to 1885 when Mahant Raghubar Das filed a title suit in a Faizabad court to build a chabutra (raised platform) on the outer courtyard of the disputes structure, but his suit was dismissed on the ground that the event (alleged demolition of an original Ram temple in 1528) had occurred over 350 years earlier, and so it was 'too late now' to remedy the grievance.

It was revived in December 1949 when some people broke open the structure's locks and installed a Ram idol and articles of worship and the administration ordered the status quo that led to two separate civil suits filed on January 16, 1950 by Hindu Mahasabha member late Gopal Singh Visharad and Paramhansa Ramchandra Das, keeper of the Digambar Akhada in Ayodhya.

Friday's judgment will not be a final verdict on the dispute that has been raging for decades as to whether there was the Ram mandir at the site that was pulled down to build the mosque, as it can be appealed in the Supreme Court by either side.

Even the Supreme Court ruling can be challenged for a review by the same bench or by a 5-judge bench through a curative petition.

All the same, the issues that the judges framed for ruling try to cover every possible aspect under the legal system.

These include:
Whether the demolished structure was a mosque as claimed by the plaintiff Muslim organisations;
If so, when was it built and by whom -- Mughal emperor Babar or his Awadh governor Mir Baqi Tashqandi;
Was it built on the site of a demolished Hindu temple?
Whether Muslims prayed in the Babri mosque from time immemorial;
Whether they possessed the property openly and continuously from 1528 when it was allegedly built;
Whether they possessed it till 1949 when they were dispossessed;
Whether the suit was filed too late;
Whether the Hindus have earned the right to pray at the site through adverse and continuous possession;
Whether the plot is Ram's birthplace;
Whether Hindus have worshipped the site as Ram's birthplace from time immemorial;
Whether the idols and other objects of worship were placed in the structure on the night of December 22-23, 1949, or whether they had been there before.

There will be a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks. Q.1 to Q.25 (25 questions) carry one mark each (sub-total 25 marks). Q.26 to Q.55 (30 questions) carry two marks each (sub-total 60 marks). Questions Q.56 - Q.65 belong to General Aptitude (GA). There are a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks. Apart from General Aptitude (GA), the question paper consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A is common for all candidates. Part B contains two sections: Section 1 (Geology) and Section 2 (Geophysics). Candidates will have to attempt questions in Part A and either Section 1 or Section 2 in Part B.

Part A consists of 25 questions; all questions carry 1-mark each (sub-total 25 marks). Each of the sections (Section 1 and Section 2) in Part B consists of 30 questions; all questions carry 2-marks each (sub-total 60 marks). Questions Q.48 - Q.51 (2 pairs) are common data questions. and Qquestion pairs (Q.52, Q.53) and (Q.54, Q.55) are linked answer questions. The answer to the second question of the linked answer questions pair depends on the answer to the first question of the pair. GATE Examination Type

The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3 hours duration which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of only objective questions. In all papers other than AE and TF, all the questions are of multiple choice type. In AE and TF papers, the question paper will consist of 60 questions of multiple choice type and 5 questions of numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, each question will have four choices for the answer. For numerical answer type questions, each question will have a number as the answer. to view the pattern of question papers. The examination for the papers with codes AE, GG, MN and TF will be carried out ONLINE using computers where the candidates will be required to enter the answer for each question using keyboard/mouse. For all other papers, the candidates will have to mark the correct choice on an Optical Response Sheet (ORS) by darkening the appropriate bubble against each question. There will be negative marking for each wrong answer, except for the numerical answer type questions

Mr Bachchan also completed his hat-trick of the national film awards as Best Actor for ‘Paa’ , Best Actress Ananya Chaterjee for ‘Aabo Hawa’ , ’3 Idiots’ bags awards for Best Popular Film/ Best Director/ Best Producer, Farooq Sheikh gets Best Supporting Actor for ‘Lahore’ and Arundhati Nag wins Best Supporting Actress for ‘Paa’.

The National Film Awards is the most prominent film award ceremony in India. Established in 1954, it is administrated by the Indian government’s Directorate of Film Festivals since 1973. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government selects the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in New Delhi, where the President of India gives away the awards. This is followed by the inauguration of the National Film Festival, where the award-winning films are screened for the public. Declared for films produced in the previous year across the country, they hold the distinction of awarding merit to the best of Indian cinema overall, as well as presenting awards for the best films in each region and language of the country.

Eminent director Rituparno Ghosh was declared Best Director for Bengali film Abohomaan. The movie ‘Delhi 6? claimed the award for national integrity while Aamir Khan’s blockbuster ’3 Idiots’ won the national award in the most popular category. Malayalam film ‘Kutty Srank’ was declared Best Film while Well Done Abba clinched the award for Best film on social issues.

The 57th National Film Awards is presented to the best of Indian Cinema released during the year 2009. The awards has been announced:

Best Actor award Amitabh Bachchan adjudged as Best Actor for ‘Paa’

Best Actress award went in favour of Ananya Chatterjee for her role in Abohomaan.

Best Sound Engineer: Oscar winner Resul Pookutty

Best Supporting role (Male): Farooq Sheikh for the film Lahore

Best Supporting role (Female): Arundhati Naag for the film Paa

Best Playback singer (Male): Rupam Islam

Best Playback singer (Female): Niranjana Sarkar (Housefull)

Best Music: Dev D

Best lyrics: Swananad Kirkirey for the film 3 Idiots

Best Music Director: Amit Trivedi for the film Dev D

Best Child Film : Ottani Pati and Kesu

Best Child actor: Jiva and Anba Karasu

Best Music score: Illyaraza for Pazhassi Raja

Best Choreography: K Shivashankar for film Magadhira
